Sky Tower
The Sky Tower in Auckland is the tallest structure in New Zealand. In fact, the tower is the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere at 328 metres (1,076 feet).
History
A telecommunications and observation tower in Auckland's Central Business District, it opened in 1997.
The Sky Tower is constructed of reinforced concrete, steel, aluminium and glass. Needless to say, the views over the city and harbour from the observation deck are amazing.
A lift ascends to the observation desks at 220 metres in just 40 seconds. The tower can be illuminated and puts on spectacular light shows.
For thrill-seekers try the SkyJump from 192 metres or the SkyWalk around the ring of the building.
Eat & Drink
The Sky Tower offers three places to wine and dine. Enjoy a coffee at the Sky Lounge Cafe & Bar or eat in style at either the revolving restaurant Orbit 360˚ or The Sugar Club.
The Sky Tower Gift Shop sells a variety of souvenirs and New Zealand brand goods.
